There are so many lovely things about Winter: frosty mornings, fresh air, shimmering cobwebs, lengthy shadows as the sun sets…
Taking a walk and taking in your surroundings is a terrific way to keep your body and mind in good shape. However, for other people, leaving the house is not an option. When the weather is severe, our clients frequently tell us that getting about is tough.
If this is the case, spend a moment each day to appreciate what you can see from your window or from your garden. Pick up a pen and write a poem or a drawing about what makes Winter so beautiful.
Wildlife in search of scarce Winter food will flock to our gardens, balconies, and windowsills. Put sunflower seeds, peanuts, or fat balls out for them, and don’t forget to give them some water.
Sending cards or letters to those you care about, watching Christmas movies, spending time with family and friends, or simply wishing someone a “Merry Christmas” on the street – all of these activities provide a sense of warmth and hope during the winter months.
We’ll be able to get together on Christmas Day if the limits remain the same. “My daughter and grandchildren don’t live far away,” one of our consumers explained. For Christmas, we’ll absolutely get together. “I’m looking forward to it.”
Snuggling beneath a blanket with a hot beverage and something to watch or read is a relaxing activity that can be done at any time of year. Keeping warm during the frigid winter months also has the added benefit of warding off those pesky winter bugs. We’ve made our decision!
One of the wonderful aspects of the British seasons is that when one ends, another begins. Consider how much we value the arrival of early daffodils when the weather warms up in the Spring, the birth of new lambs, and the longer, sunnier days. It always comes with the notion that we’ve all earned it after the Winter!
If you’re worried about staying warm and healthy this winter, Age UK’s ‘Winter Wrapped Up’ advice is a good place to start. If you require a printout, please contact us and we will be pleased to assist you.
At AHM Installations, we value the quality of life above everything else. We appreciate assisting others, which includes listening to our customers’ problems at home.
One of the consumers we spoke with about their winter worries is disabled. We’re thrilled that he can now have a pleasant warm shower on a cold winter day since his new shower cubicle, grab bars, and bench, which we recently built, make him feel much safer.
